Dr. Bendimerad is the Chairman of the Board of EMI (www.emi-megacities.org) an international scientific organization based in the Philippines. He is an active researcher, practitioner and educator with focused interest in megacities risk management; he is recognized by his peer as the foremost global expert in the field.  He is the initiator of the Cluster Cities Project, a global network of public officials, researchers, educators, professionals and advocates working together to reduce urban risk.

He was Principal Scientist at RMS a California Corporation where he developed risk models that became the standards for the insurance industry worldwide. He has advised international organizations, governments and corporations. He served in the faculty of Stanford University (USA) and universities in Japan and Germany.  He maintains a consulting practice in California where he is a registered professional engineer.

He holds Master and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from Stanford University
